36-year old righty swinging DH Vladimir Guerrero is finally looking like the hitter the O’s thought they were getting when they signed him over the winter. Guerrero has played in 10 games so far in September and he is 16 for 37 (.432 avg, 1.204 OPS) with 8 runs scored, 2 homers and 7 RBIs. He has now played in 127 games overall this year and he is 141 for 490 (.288 avg, .733 OPS) with 52 runs scored, 12 homers, 53 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Guerrero probably won’t be back in 2012, but he could finish the year strongly and leave Orioles’ fans with a good impression of him.

27-year old righty swinging Robert Andino is getting most of the P.T. at 2B for the Orioles right now. Mark Reynolds is starting to turn it up with the bat for the Baltimore Orioles

27-year old righty swinging 3B Mark Reynolds had a tough first two months with the Orioles. But in June and July he heated up. In the last two months, Reynolds was 42 for 171 (.246 avg) with 29 runs scored, 16 homers, 31 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. I know, the average isn’t great but the Orioles didn’t trade for him for that and they have to be pleased with his power production lately. Reynolds has now played in 104 games for the Orioles this year and he is 76 for 347 (.219 avg, .807 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 23 homers, 55 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. Reynolds is leading the Orioles in runs scored, homers, walks (58) and strikeouts (117) so far this year and he’s 2nd in RBIs and he is tied for 4th in stolen bases for the O’s so far this year. The Reynolds of the last two months is the player the Orioles expected him to be when they dealt for him last winter and they hope he stays hot the rest of the year.

J.J. Hardy is really playing well for the Baltimore Orioles this year

Blogged under General, Front Page, Playing Well, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Wednesday 27 July 2011 at 10:50 am

28-year old righty swinging shortstop J.J. Hardy has really been impressive this year for the Orioles. He has played in 72 games for the O’s so far this year and he is 79 for 284 (.278 avg, .830 OPS) with 40 runs scored, 16 homers and 42 RBIs. Hardy has been so impressive that he got a nice 3-year contract extension a couple of weeks ago. Playing half his games at Camden Yards could net Hardy 25-30 homers a year if he can just stay healthy. The Orioles were very smart to bring him back as he’s a good defensive shortstop with a lot of pop in his bat.
