The Baltimore Orioles have Steve Trachsel on a short leash

The Orioles have veteran righty starter Steve Trachsel on a short leash. He has started 6 games for the Orioles this season and he is 1-4 with a 7.43 ERA and a 1.95 WHIP. The Orioles were probably hoping that Trachsel could net them a couple of prospects like last season at the trade deadline when they acquired Scott Moore and Rock Cherry from the Cubs for him. That won’t happen unless Trachsel gets things turned around soon.

Brian Burres is off to a good start for the Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles didn’t have high hopes for Brian Burres going into this season but he has really been impressive so far. Burres has pitched in 6 games (5 starts) for the Orioles this season and he is 3-2 with a 2.87 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. It’s doubtful that Burres can keep pitching like he currently is but the Orioles can hope.
