When all of the injuries hit the Orioles starting rotation they got a little bit nervous.  But, Jeremy Guthrie has stepped up and appears to be tightening his grip on his rotation spot.  In 10 games (4 starts) this season, Guthrie is 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP.  In 36.2 innings this season, he has allowed 32 hits, walked 7 batters and whiffed 26.  Look for Guthrie to continue pitching well because he has pretty good stuff.

Danys Baez is proving to be a waste of money as the Orioles gave him a big three year contract as a free agent.  In 23 games so far this season, Baez is 0-3 with a 6.10 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP.   In 20.2 innings this season, Baez has allowed 17 hits, 4 homers, walked 9 batters and whiffed 10.  If he doesn’t start pitching better soon the Orioles will have no choice but to quit pitching him so late in ballgames.
