Manager Sam Perlozzo needs to get tough
Perlozzo is known as a pretty nice guy. Well, nice guys finish last so it’s time for him to get tough because the Orioles have been losing for a long time. Perlozzo has a career record of 93-124 (.429) and he will need to do better than that if he wants to continue managing in the major leagues.
Last night’s 12 inning loss was discouraging because the starting pitching and bullpen were both terrific yet we still lost! The breaks won’t go our way against a club like the Tigers, but we finally have some semblance of a pitching staff thats major league worthy. Sam has never had a club this talented before, and I think if the Orioles win any less than seventy-five games (and that’s generous) he is gone. I was dissapointed he didn’t originally get the manager job after Hargrove was fired, but he finally is a major league manager and I don’t think he is going to screw this up.
Look at the bright side about last night. The Orioles pitchers threw a fantastic game, but they just ran out of pitchers and Kurt Birkins threw some late-night batting practice. I think 75+ wins is a possiblity and I’m encouraged that Daniel Cabrera might finally be starting to get it.
